Welcome to the School of Ideas!

A one-day seminar in your subject...

Calling all English students, Historians, budding Medics, Politicians, Philosophers, Economists, Lawyers and Engineers!

Interested in the big answers? Interested in the big questions?

Our School of Ideas is built for people who like questions – not simple, only-one-right-answer questions, but BIG questions. The kinds of questions that you can keep on questioning for days, weeks, months and even years.  The kinds of questions that might completely change the way you think…

If you're in year 11, 12 or 13 then the School of Ideas needs you!

On the day, you'll work closely with a top Oxbridge graduate in your subject and do intellectual battle with like-minded students.

You'll develop the creativity and flair that will result in A* thinking when you come to sit your exams.

It's a meeting of minds which will help you expand your knowledge and express your ideas more confidently.

We'll give you a taste of where a particular subject could take you and the chance to explore truly interesting ideas: we’ll be straying off the well-beaten syllabus track and into topics that you don’t normally get to investigate until university.

Course details...

Your day runs from 10am - 5.30pm in central London and is split into three sections, with breaks for lunch and well-earned snacks. As part of the day you'll receive a subject-specific workbook, a copy of our book So you want to go to Oxbridge? Tell me about a banana, which gives you more challenging questions and suggestions as to how you can approach them, and a Course Report for the Oxbridge courses that might be right for you.

Come with an open mind, a thirsty brain and a tasty packed-lunch!

Thinking matters!

Curious about the big questions?

Ever wondered why great journalism isn’t considered great literature?

Asked how antibiotics actually work? Considered whether benefit reform is really sensible or queried why prisoners are allowed to vote in Europe but not in the UK?

Have you thought about how you know you exist? Counted how many pieces of propaganda you come across every day or wondered how cost-cutting economics and NHS healthcare can comfortably coexist?

Do you deliberate over Descartes or question the justice of trial by jury? Are you naturally intrigued by natural immunity or passionate about poetry?
