Our Personal Statement Masterclass is an intensive half-day event designed to help you create a strong personal statement that will reflect your interests, subject commitment and achievements.
By the end of the masterclass, you will understand what you need to do to make your statement stand out, have created the content and honed the structure and received personalised advice in your one-to-one consultation with one of our expert personal statement consultants.

Your personal statement is one of the most important elements of your university application - and probably the most difficult document you have had to write in your life so far!
It's your chance to convey your interests and motivation (in 4000 characters) to the admissions tutors at each of your five university choices and to sell yourself as a strong candidate for a place on their course.
Our Personal Statement Masterclasses are designed to give you the expert input that you need to set off on the right track, the chance to gather your ideas together and logically structure your thoughts and finally, to have the guidance of our specialists to ensure that what you have created will impress the admissions tutors at the university you want to go to.
We'll be holding our Personal Statement Masterclasses in the morning and afternoon of Saturday 14th July and Saturday 25th August in central London. The masterclass costs £150. This includes all the materials from the day as well as a free copy of the brand new edition of Oxbridge Applications' So you want to go to Oxbridge? Tell me about a banana... and 60 Successful Personal Statements by Guy Nobes.
For more information and booking, call one of our consultants on 0207 499 2394 or email info@oxbridgeapplications.com.

The day will begin with an introductory presentation from personal statement guru, Guy Nobes. Guy will help you to identify what it is that admissions tutors are looking for when they read your personal statement and how you can make your interest and personality stand out from the page.
Through interactive sessions - such as deciding which candidate to award a coveted university place to based on their personal statement - Guy will help you understand how you can apply his lessons to make your personal statement as strong as possible.

You'll have time to work on your draft personal statement with guidance from Guy Nobes. He'll be there to help you think about how to start, how to finish, what to include, how to develop what you're writing and how to convey your enthusiasm for the course.
This time will allow you to work on an existing draft or create a new structure and draft paragraphs to go over in your one-to-one consultation.

You'll have a 20 minute one-to-one consultation with one of our expert personal statement consultants. In this consultation you'll focus on the content, structure, style and tone of your personal statement, to ensure the greatest chance of success in your application.
Our consultants will give you their advice on sections to tweak, encourage further reading or activities that will enhance the work you have done already and recommend which areas might invite interview questions.
Whilst you're waiting, you'll be able to work on your personal statement, either in preparation for your consultation, or to take action on the points that your one-to-one consultation highlighted for improvement.
You'll leave the masterclass with the beginnings a statement that demonstrates your interests, achievements and subject-motivation to the admissions tutors reading it, written in an academic style that still expresses your personality.

It can be hard to decide what to include in your personal statement and what to leave out. You've only got 4000 characters to demonstrate your subject interest and motivation, so you have to be concise, but still give attention where attention is due.
We've created a chart to help you gather your ideas together. We'll be using at our Personal Statement Masterclasses, but you can use it even if you can't come. It's a good idea to check what you've written with your parents too - they're good at spotting what you've missed or what you didn't think was relevant, but is really!
