Oxford university celebrated teachers who have inspired and motivated students from schools without a history of sending pupils to Oxbridge to apply and win places.
Applications from state schools have increased by 73% in the last 10 years and nearly 60% of all offers made for 2011 entry were to students from state schools.
Oxford University Vice Chancellor, Professor Andrew Hamilton said "I hope this award will send the message that students and universities recognise how valuable the role of a supportive teacher can be."
