In defence of interviews

At this point of the year, the Oxbridge interview system tends to come under attack from the press, the schools and the MPs. Mary Beard, Classics Professor at Cambridge and regular Times blogger explains that, although not completely perfect, the interview system does endeavour to be fair to all - and help people to win a place, not lose it.
