Happy Results day everyone! We hope you all got everything you were hoping for! In this blog, we aim to lay out all the next steps you now need to take: With results in hand it’s now time to have a think about the next few days and weeks and how they are going to benefit your application to Oxford, Cambridge and other universities you are considering.

Step 1: Write a stand-out Personal Statement:

The first stage of the application is getting your UCAS application in prior to the 15th of October, unless your school has an even earlier date. It might be a good idea to check out our Reading Rooms, as well as the Mid-Week Brain Treat, for ideas of extra reading you can do to show an interest in your subject when writing your Personal Statement.

Step 2: After your UCAS form is in:

Time to get thinking about those admissions tests that many subjects at Oxford, and quite a few at Cambridge, ask you to sit before making you an offer. We offer loads of support for admissions tests, like our Admissions Test Courses and practice papers. These tests are really tough, and unlike your school exams, so it’s important to keep practicing them and getting good feedback on them, like the full mock test you’ll get to sit at our seminars. All our papers and tests come with full commentary on the ways to think about answering the questions and so offer a great chance to get some practice in before the real things.

Step 3: The Interview:

Many people, before they apply to Oxford or Cambridge will hear rumours about what Oxbridge interviews were like, with trick questions and dons trying to catch you out. One of our team was applying for Philosophy and was told one person had been asked ‘Prove to me that the room doesn’t exist’! It is completely understandable to be nervous about the whole thing. Here at Oxbridge Applications we help to demystify the process and make sure that you go in confident and knowing what to expect. From our Interview Preparation Packages with the opportunity to get mock interviews and feedback from a tutor in your subject, to our Private Consultations with the chance to be interviewed by one of our experienced expert consultants, we give you the chance to go into the interview process ready to give the best performance that you can.

Overall, our biggest tip would be to start thinking about your application as soon as possible and give us a call on 0207 499 2394 so that we can help you with the stages of applying that worry you most. The earlier you begin this process the better and the more prepared you’ll be when October 15th (UCAS Deadline) comes around, and it’ll be here before you know it.
